2 Nigerians illegally detaining, 4 females in Cavite arrested

POLICE operatives arrested two Nigerians and rescued four females reportedly illegally detained by the two in Tanza, Cavite, it was reported yesterday.

The Calabarzon police regional office named the suspects as Primus Ugochukwu Iwu, 28; and and Precious Chukwuemeka Eboegbulem, 26.

Policemen accompanied by representatives from the town’s social welfare office raided last Tuesday afternoon the residence of Eboegbulem, which police said is a “love scam” hub.

The raid was conducted after police received information from a friend of one of the victims, a 21-year-old, who claimed she was being detained by the suspects.

“During the course of the operation, the victim and three others were rescued from the custody of the suspects,” the Calabarzon police said in a report.

Two of the three other rescued victims were aged 21 while the third one was 25, police said.

Calabarzon Police Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said the suspects were former employees of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation hub in Bamban, Tarlac.

“They studied somewhere in Central Luzon until they were recruited and worked at a POGO (hub) in Bamban, Tarlac,” Lucas told a television interview.

Lucas said they later left the POGO hub and established their scam operations.

“They are victimizing not only Filipinos but also foreigners,” Lucas said of the suspects.
