2 slain in Mindanao attacks

COTABATO CITY, Philippines —  Two people were killed in separate gun attacks in this city and in Kidapawan, North Cotabato yesterday morning.

Maria Alona Villar was walking along Moonlight street in Barangay Rosary Heights 8 in this city when she was shot by motorcycle-riding men.

Villar, wife of a police colonel, died at the scene of the attack, probers said.

In Kidapawan, unidentified assailants shot dead Narris Maon as he was traveling in Barangay Balindog.

Maon suffered gunshots to the head and body. His car collided with a dump truck.

Probers said the victim was a former employee of an agency of the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
