27 Pinoy trafficking victims return home
MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-seven overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were victims of human trafficking in Cambodia returned to the country on Friday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said yesterday.
In a social media post, DMW Assistant Secretary Francis Ron de Guzman said the department is helping the OFWs file charges of syndicated illegal recruitment and qualified human trafficking against their recruiters.
The OFWs, who were forced to work for illegal online financial and phishing operations, were rescued in September. They are being processed so they would be able to receive government aid, the DMW said.
