3 Chinese wanted for criminal cases nabbed in Parañaque City

THREE Chinese wanted for a string of criminal cases in the Philippines and in China were arrested in Parañaque City by operatives from the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit (BI FSU).

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said Jun Chen, 28; Hongru Zhang, 26; and Hao Zhn, 27; were apprehended last August 13 in Barangay Tambo, Paranaque after a surveillance operation confirmed their presence in the area.

Tansingco said Chinese authorities earlier informed the bureau about the fugitives’ presence in the country.

BI-FSU acting chief Rendel Ryan Sy said two of the three are the subjects of arrest warrants issued by the public security bureau in Jinjiang, China while the other one is an overstaying alien.

Sy added that all three are now undocumented foreigners, their passports having been canceled by the Chinese government.

Tansingco said the three cannot be deported to China yet as they have to face criminal charges for robbery, grave coercion, illegal detention, gun possession, and illegal drug trading that police have filed against them before the Parañaque City prosecutor’s office.

“They can only be deported after the criminal cases against them are resolved and, if convicted, they will have to first serve their sentence in jail,” Tansingco explained.
