3 communist rebels surrender in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Three former members of a communist terrorist group (CTG) separately surrendered to authorities in Central Luzon on Friday.

A 52-year-old former member of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya, Platun 1 Sentro de Grabidad and Guerrilla Front Narciso identified only as alias Ka Jo withdrew her support from the communist group and submitted herself to police authorities in Tarlac.

She also surrendered one homemade shotgun.

The surrender was facilitated through the joint efforts of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Tarlac City Police Station, San Jose Municipal Police Station, Mayantoc Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU).

In Aurora province, another CTG member, identified only as alias Ka Elmer, a former Militiang Bayan operative in Maria Aurora, surrendered to the Aurora Police Provincial Office through the efforts of the 1st Aurora PMFC with the support of the PIU and the Maria Aurora local police.

In Bataan, alias Ka Warren also surrendered to authorities. Ka Warren is a former commanding officer of Kilusang Larangang Gerilya operating in Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga and Zambales.

Ka Warren also turned in an M-653 rifle, an M73 hand grenade, a command-detonated explosive, various magazines and ammunition.

«These successive surrenders highlight the effectiveness of the government's whole-of-nation approach in ending the local communist armed conflict, as emphasized by Executive Order No. 70,» Police Regional Office 3 director BGen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said.
