3 Filipina gymnasts bow out in Paris

FILIPINA gymnasts Levi Ruivivar, Emma Malabuyo and Aleah Finnegan made early exit in the 2024 Paris Olympics women's artistic gymnastics on Monday at the Bercy Arena.

The trio failed to crack inside the Top 24 in all-around. They also ranked outside the Top 8 in all apparatuses.

Ruivivar (40th) and Malabuyo (41st) both scored 51.099 points, while Finnegan (47th) had 50.498.

Finnegan totaled 13.383, while Malabuyo and Ruivivar recorded 13.266 and 13.600, correspondingly, in vault.

Malabuyo (12.233), Ruivivar (11.866) and Finnegan (11.466) were far in the rankings in balance beam after finishing 57th, 64th and 71st, respectively.

The gymnasts showed confidence and grace in the floor exercise, but Malabuyo (13.00-25th), Finnegan (12.733-37th) and Ruivivar (12.433-37th) were overpowered by the other top teams.

The same goes with the uneven bars apparatus as Ruivivar finished 40th (13.200), while Finnegan and Malabuyo ranked 58th and 60th place with a score of 12.566 and 12.500, respectively.

It was the first time in six decades the Philippines had female gymnasts in the quadrennial meet.

The last time the Philippines had female representatives was in the 1964 Tokyo Games when Maria Luisa Flora and Evelyn Magluyan suited up for the country.
