31% of Pinoys pro-Marcos, 20% pro-Duterte – survey

MORE adult Filipinos support President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his administration than the Duterte family and their political allies, the latest OCTA Research survey released on Monday said.

The poll, conducted from March 11 to 14 among 1,200 respondents nationwide, showed 31 percent of Filipinos support Marcos and his government, while 20 percent back the Duterte family and their supporters. Only about 4 percent said they support the opposition.

Some 29 percent of the respondents could be classified as «independents» because they do not identify with Marcos, Duterte, or the opposition. The remaining 15 percent did not know who to support or refused to respond.

Across major areas, Marcos and his administration got the support of 43 percent of Filipinos living in the National Capital Region (NCR) while getting the support of 17 percent of Filipinos in Mindanao.

Also, 32 percent of Filipinos in Balance Luzon and 38 percent in Visayas supported the President and his allies.

Among socioeconomic classes, Marcos and his administration have statistically similar levels of support from Filipinos belonging to Classes D and E at 32 percent and 30 percent, respectively. Only 27 percent of those coming from Class ABC said they support the President.

On the other hand, the Duterte family and its allies got the support of 53 percent of Filipinos from Mindanao while getting only 7 percent from Balance Luzon.

Also, 18 percent of Filipinos in the Visayas and 14 percent in Metro Manila support the Duterte family and its allies.

«Across socioeconomic classes, 30 percent of adult Filipinos falling under Class E support the Duterte family and its allies. In comparison, only 19 and 14 percent are supportive of the Duterte family in classes D and ABC, respectively,» OCTA said.

Moreover, the opposition has statistically similar levels of support across areas, with 4 percent in Metro Manila, 3 percent in Balance Luzon, and 5 percent each in the Visayas and Mindanao.

«Across socioeconomic classes, only 7 percent of class E supports the opposition, slightly higher than the levels of support from classes ABC and D, which are 4 percent,» the polling firm added.
