6,000 devotees gather for Feast of Sto. Niño masses in Tondo
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 21) — Authorities said some 6,000 devotees attended masses for the Feast of Sto. Niño in Tondo, Manila on Sunday.
According to its latest situation report, the Philippine National Police said an estimated 5,000 devotees joined the 2 p.m. mass while some 6,000 devotees attended the 3 p.m. mass.
Joining the celebration, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged devotees of the Sto. Niño to use their faith to spread hope, love, and joy.
The Manila Police District (MPD) closed roads and announced a rerouting scheme in preparation for the number of devotees expected at the Feast of Sto. Niño de Tondo.
In a Facebook post, the MPD said the following roads were closed starting at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 20, Saturday.

— Sta. Maria St. from Moriones St. to Morga St.
— J. Nolasco St. from Morga St. to N. Zamora St.
— Morga St. from J. Nolasco St. to Juan Luna St.
— Ortega St. from Asuncion St. to Soliman St.
— Lakandula St. from Asuncion St. to Ilaya St.
— Ilaya St. from Lakandula St. to CM. Recto Avenue
— Chacon St. from N. Zamora St. to Juan Luna St.
— Soliman St. from Morga St. to N. Zamora/Ortega St.
MPD advised motorists to take alternative routes.
