6,700 personnel deployed in Quezon City for Undas
MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of law enforcers and local government personnel will be deployed in Quezon City during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
According to the local government, more than 4,700 personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will secure public and private cemeteries, columbaria, bus terminals and other areas of convergence.
Another 2,000 personnel from various local government agencies will be dispatched as force multipliers.
“We will ensure the safety of all QCitizens and visitors who will be paying respects to their dead. We request the public to follow the rules in public and private cemeteries,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
She said the public may call QC Helpline 122 for any emergencies, assistance or complaints.
QCPD director Col. Melencio Buslig Jr. said uniformed personnel have been deployed in cemeteries since Tuesday.
Members of the city’s Traffic and Transport Management Department will be dispatched to ensure the smooth flow of traffic near cemeteries, columbaria, malls, Metro Rail Transit and Light Rail Transit stations as well as transport terminals.
Personnel from the Department of Public Order and Safety, Task Force Disiplina, Barangay Public Order and Safety, QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Department of Sanitation and Cleanup Works, Market Development and Administration Department and Bureau of Fire Protection will also be deployed across the city.
The QCity Bus will continue its operations during Undas.
The Civil Registry Department has released guidelines on visitation in city-run cemeteries in Bagbag and Novaliches.
Both public cemeteries are open to visitors until Nov. 3. Interments have been suspended until Nov. 4.
The local government has banned gambling, smoking and vaping, drinking alcoholic beverages as well as playing loud music in cemeteries.
Among the prohibited items are liquor, flammable materials, firearms and other deadly weapons, sound systems and painting materials.
