670 jobseekers land Taiwan jobs in Ilocos Norte job fair

NEARLY 700 jobseekers successfully found employment in Taiwan during the special job fair held by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Ilocos Norte last Monday.

In a joint statement, the DMW and MECO reported that 670 aspirants who participated in the one-day job fair held at the Centennial Arena in Laoag City have qualified for further interview by Taiwanese employers.

“The number of qualified applicants, who will be accepted as factory workers in various Taiwanese companies, are expected to be deployed by January 2025 in manufacturing companies in Taiwan,” said the DMW and MECO.

“No placement fees and no deployment costs will be charged against the workers,” they added.

Of the more than 1,000 other job seekers that participated in the job fair, the agencies said all is not lost as they are set to get another opportunity to find employment.

“Participants, who pre-registered in the DMW registration portal and attended the job fair but were not chosen, will be for further evaluation and completion of required documents,” said the agencies.

The MECO and DMW said 10 recruitment agencies participated in the job fair and offered some 4,000 job vacancies in Taiwan.

Also represented in the event were the Philippine Statistics Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority which provided pre-employment services.
