8-month-old baby slammed by father on floor dies

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — An intoxicated father slammed his eight-month-old daughter on the floor, resulting in her immediate death in Barangay Tagaytay, Bansalan, Davao del Sur on Saturday night.

Neighbors of Angelo Malit, currently detained at the Bansalan Municipal Police Station, informed responding officers and reporters that, aside from his issues with alcohol, he is also struggling with a shabu addiction.

Neighbors were alarmed as Malit began shouting insults at his wife, followed by distressing screams and pleas for help when he proceeded to carry their daughter and threw her to the floor.

Relatives of Malit’s wife have told community leaders in Barangay Tagaytay and investigators from the Bansalan MPS that they want him prosecuted to the fullest extent of law.
