A parrot worth listening to? | The Freeman
While I was preparing to write this article, I searched for a description to fit the nth time that I dwell on the subject - Communist China’s war against the Philippines, which I sincerely view to be an integral part of their evil plan for world domination. Then, I came upon the pejorative phrase “talking like a parrot”. Surprisingly, the idiomatic expression looked disturbingly appropriate. Linguistically, this column today can be called as Psittacism, it being a writing that appears mechanical or repetitive in the manner of a parrot. But, unlike the bird, I will, here and now, attempt to explore the area which I have repeatedly written about, in a rather differently angled presentation hoping that it finally gets enough attention of our countrymen as to start a move to help defend our territorial sovereignty.
Anger. I am not as angered by the bullying done by Communist Chinese maritime assets of the Philippine civilian vessels, few days ago, as by the continued indifference of our countrymen to this criminal Chinese act. Recently, our boats were bringing fresh supplies to Filipinos at the Ayungin Shoal, a part of the West Philippine Sea which the International Arbitral Tribunal ruled as within our Exclusive Economic Zone. I am really indignant because we, as one nation, do not seem to feel a collective injury on the way Chinese militia vessels are disrespecting our own ships cruising within the EEZ. The video showed, in one portion, Chinese Coast Guard trying to sink much smaller Philippine vessels by training powerful water cannons at them and, in another portion, of their dangerous maneuvers to block our ships’ right of way. Apparently, our Filipino conscience is not even bothered by this tyrannical Chinese act as if our sovereign territorial rights are not violated. Mora gyud ug kitang mga Pinoys wa magpakabana.
It is true, there is nothing physical we can do to counter these Chinese invaders. Based on the videos we have seen, the ratio is grossly disproportionate. There are over a hundred vessels owned by these Godless communists patrolling in our own seas for every single Filipino ship. To repeat, that is one hundred against one. And I am talking of the
