AC Motors at the 2023 PEVS: A leap forward in electrified mobility

THE 11th edition of the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) marked a pivotal moment in the realm of electric vehicles (EVs). Not only did it host illuminating discussions on EV-related topics, but it also boasted the largest participation of automotive brands to date. Among the prominent attendees, AC Motors took center stage, presenting Kia and their newly acquired EV brand, BYD.

AC Motors has long championed the electrified future of the Philippines. Strengthening their commitment to driving the adoption of EVs in the country, AC Motors unveiled the Kia EV6, BYD Dolphin, and BYD Tang at the 2023 Philippine EV Summit.

Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, AC Motors group head, expressed enthusiasm about the swift evolution of the EV industry in the Philippines.

«We are immensely encouraged by the rapid transformation of the electric vehicle industry here in the Philippines. We've been speaking over the last couple of months with retail and corporate clients across the country, and we've been hearing tremendous feedback on the benefits of the EV eco system,» he said.

«We are confident, within the next decade, the mobility landscape in the Philippines will change. By 2030, we expect 20 percent of all new car sales to be EVs,» Ayala said.

Amid the spotlight on the Dolphin and Tang, the 2023 PEVS provided an exclusive glimpse of the forthcoming BYD model destined for the Philippines: the all-new BYD ATTO 3. This subcompact crossover will bolster the BYD lineup in the Philippines, expanding it from the current three models (Dolphin, Han, and Tang) to four.

BYD President Toti Zara also revealed the adjusted pricing for the current BYD lineup, making these EVs more accessible to Filipino car buyers. The BYD Dolphin, previously priced at P1.688 million, is now available at P1.398 million. The premium electric sedan, BYD Han, which previously bore a price tag of P3.688 million, now retails at P3.113 million. As for the BYD Tang, its previous price of P3.698 million has been reduced to P3.321 million.
