Acorda reshuffles 6 PNP officials

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. has initiated another revamp in the PNP, affecting six senior officials.

In a memorandum signed by PNP Personnel and Records Management director Maj. Gen. Robert Rodriguez on Nov. 17, the officials were reassigned to other units of the police organization.

Maj. Gen. Bernard Banac, head of the PNP Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management (DICTM), was designated chief of the elite Special Action Force.

Maj. Gen. Rudolph Dimas was named chief of the PNP Directorate for Plans.

Dimas replaced Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan who was designated chief of the DICTM.

The PNP also ordered the reassignment of Brig. Gen. John Cayaban Chua, former director of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1).

Chua will head the Area Police Command in the Visayas.

Police Community Affairs Development Group (CADG) director Brig. Gen. Lou Frias Evangelista was designated chief of the PRO1 in San Fernando, La Union.

PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management director Col. Restituto Arcangel is the new CADG director.

Col. Jean Fajardo, chief of the PNP public information office, said the reassignment of senior officials is a regular process in the PNP.

“They need to fill vacancies as a result of retirement of some PNP officials,” Fajardo told The STAR.
