After 5-day isolation, Marcos free from COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos is in for a busy week after winning his third bout with COVID-19.

Marcos ended his isolation last Sunday by watching “Puso ng Pasko,” the first all-Filipino Christmas ballet by the artists of the Alice Reyes Dance Philippines at the Mabini grounds in Malacañang.

“This is my freedom,” the President said in his impromptu remarks delivered at the show’s venue.

Palace briefer Daphne Paez also mentioned Marcos’ attendance at the ballet during a press conference yesterday.

During his first workday since recovery, Marcos distributed land titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries and witnessed the opening rites of the 18th National Scout Jamboree in Iloilo, where he urged thousands of boy scouts to remain adventurous while being active and productive members of society.

“To all our beloved scouts: remember that you are here also to have fun, and to have an adventure, but to learn also about positive agents of change of which you can be part of,” Marcos said in his speech.

“Make your bodies strong and healthy. Keep your minds keen and ever conscious. Stand your ground, embody the scout law, and heed the call of duty to God and country,” he added. “These qualities will make you a good scout – a good scout makes a good citizen, and a good contributor to our goal of building a Bagong Pilipinas.”

During the event, the President was inducted as the chief scout of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

Marcos also has a number of public engagements, including agriculture-related activities, in various areas this week.

On Friday, he will leave for Japan to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations - Japan Commemorative Summit.
