Altas take on slumping Stags in NCAA

THE University of Perpetual Help System Dalta aims for another win when it battles San Sebastian College-Recoletos in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City on Tuesday.

Game time is 11 a.m.

The Altas of coach Olsen Racela are coming off an impressive 73-67 win against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals last Saturday.

The Golden Stags, on the other hand, bowed to the Arellano University Chief on Sunday, 73-87.

All eyes will be on Perpetual Help's rookie sensation Mark Gojo Cruz, who averaged 16 points, 6 boards, 3.4 assists, 2 steals and a block per game in his first five games with the Las Piñas City-based squad.

Gojo Cruz will also get help from Christian Pagaran, John Abis, Jearico Nuñez and point guards Shawn Orgo and Axl Manuel as the Altas gun for their fourth win in six games.

Despite having more room for improvement, Racela said he likes how his boys have been performing and developing in Season 100 so far.

«I told them that we should play for the whole 40 minutes because we were inconsistent with the way we played defense in the previous game,» said Racela.

«I told them the harder you work, the luckier you get. Their hard work and efforts defensively paid off last Saturday. We will just have to work harder this time.»

The Golden Stags, meanwhile, are on a three-game losing skid after winning their first two games of the season.
