Altas unseat struggling Knights

MANILA, Philippines -- The four-peat seeking Letran Knights dropped their seventh straight game in the NCAA Season 99, this time at the hands of the Perpetual Help Altas, 74-59, Sunday afternoon at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Trailing by four, 21-25, Perpetual found its bearings in the second half and pulled away.

The Altas even led by as much as 18 off the stellar play of Art Roque, Jelo Razon and Christian Pagaran.

Perpetual also rained 12 3-pointers against the Knights en route to the comfortable win.

The Altas also dished out 19 assists compared to 11 for Letran.

Roque recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds for Perpetual, while Roque and Razon contributed 12 markers each.

Deo Cuajao posted 15 points and one steal for Letran. Guard Kurt Reyson chipped in 12 points and five rebounds.

With the loss, Letran is the only winless team in the tournament, with a 0-7 slate.

Perpetual, meanwhile, won its third game in seven games.

In the first game, the San Sebastian College Golden Stags scored a huge win over the EAC Generals, 86-70.

Raymart Escobido scored 23 points for San Sebastian. Last game’s hero for the Generals, King Gurtiza, registered 20 points.
