Angat Dam's water level continues to drop – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines: The water level in Angat Dam continues to decline due to the absence of rainfall especially in its watershed, an official of the weather agency said on Monday.

The dam is the main source of potable water for Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

As of 6 a.m. Monday, its water level was 191.29 meters, lower than its normal high water level (NHWL) of 212 meters, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa Administrator Nathaniel Servando told The Manila Times that major dams continue to be monitored.

«We observed that their water level especially at Angat Dam continues to drop obviously due to the absence of rainfall in the basin during the past weeks,» Servando said, adding that the dry and warm weather will continue until May.

Servando urged the public to conserve water and practice efficient use of water resources such as recycling.
