Ayo preaches patience as young FiberXers continue hunt for elusive win

MANILA, Philippines -- Four games into the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup, the Converge FiberXers are still yet to notch a win.

They lost by 19 against Blackwater; three points versus TNT; 14 against Barangay Ginebra; and nine against San Miguel so far.

Despite the string of losses, the team remains patient and optimistic, head coach Aldin Ayo said.

Ayo acknowledged the youth of the team, and how it is the reason why they are struggling to notch a win.

“We are struggling right now because we’re a young team and all of a sudden, these players have bigger roles. They’re still adjusting,” the mentor said.

“Hopefully, while the conference is ongoing, we can find the correct rotation because we’re still on that stage. And hopefully, the players will respond,” he added.

Ayo, meanwhile, added that an import change would be up to the team management.

Tom Vodanovich, in four games this season, is averaging 17.3 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.

The six-foot-seven bruiser finished with just 13 and 11 points in his past two games.

“We’ll be patient [with the team] and we’re just gonna be optimistic,” Ayo stressed.

Converge will try and finally get a crack at the winning column on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.

Standing in their way, however, are the Phoenix Fuel Masters, who are riding a three-game winning streak.
