Ben&Ben shares story behind Marian Rivera dance video challenge

MANILA, Philippines — Original Pilipino Music (OPM) band Ben&Ben revealed the reason why they asked actress Marian Rivera to do a dance video challenge featuring one of their songs.

Marian recently uploaded a video of her dancing to Ben&Ben's "Could Be Something" in her TikTok account.

In an interview with Philstar.com, Paolo Benjamin said they believed that their song can be a dance song.

"Katuwaan lang din. Kasi na-feel namin na yung 'Could Be Something' na kantang nilabas namin last year masaya siyang sayawin pero hindi naman po kami sumasayaw. Tapos bukod sa pagsayaw, iba pa 'yung paggawa sa steps," Paolo said.

Marian is a popular personality on TikTok who does dance challenges, and the band saw it fit to issue the challenge to the actress.

"E si Ate Marian, sumasayaw siya gumagawa din ng steps. E nagkataon na naging kaibigan nga namin siya nag-mula no'ng 'Rewind' kaya naisip namin na 'i-challenge nga natin si Ate. E pumayag tapos ang bilis lang gawa na agad," Paolo said.

Ben&Ben lent one of their popular songs, "Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay," as one of the featured tracks in the box-office 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival movie "Rewind." Marian stars in the said film with her husband, Dingdong Dantes.

"Ang nangyari lang, nabalik sa amin 'yung challenge kasi sabi niya gawin din namin. Ayon po, nagpa-practice pa lang kami," he added.

Ben&Ben released their new single "Comets."

"Isa siyang kanta tungkol sa memories. Isa siyang kanta sa mga taong dumadaan sa buhay natin pero hindi meant to stay," Paolo said.

"Na-inspire po siya ng experiences namin specifically no'ng nakatira pa kami sa isang bahay no'ng pandemic," he added.

Ben&Ben’s “Comets” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
