Bigger, better Season 2 of ANS Sports 3x3 hoops | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Everything is already in place for what promises to be a bigger and better Season 2 of the Allied Network Solutions (ANS) Sports 3x3 Basketball Tournament slated on September 7-8 at the Sisters of Mary School (SMS)-Boystown in Barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla.

From being an all-Cebu battle last year, the evet co-presented by Twin-Bee Print Ads has leveled up with some out-of-towners and foreign teams seeing action this time, according to the organizers during its  formal launching at the Twin-Bee office in One Mango Avenue recently.

Foreign squads from New York, Chicago, Kansas, New Jersey, Missouri, and Texas in the United States and one from Australia will be coming over to showcase their hoop skills on Cebu soil.

The out-of-towners are from Manila, Palawan, Samar, Bohol, Ormoc, and Misamis Occidental.

“We’re thrilled to see the overwhelming response from teams across different age groups and the participation of international teams this season,” said ANS General Manager Aries Gil Prieto.

“It’s more than just a tournament. It’s a celebration of basketball and the unity it brings to players from different backgrounds and regions,” added Prieto.

From just two categories in its maiden edition - the boys and girls 18 Under, four divisions are now being featured with the addition of boys 14 and 16 Under, and open.

The girls class though has been scrapped as no team was interested early on.

Over a hundred teams have already signed up for the two-day cage wars, more than double from last year’s total number of participants.

The first to be filled up is the boys 14 age group with 40 teams.

In the boys 18, 30 teams have already registered, 38 in the boys 16, and 11 in the open.

Those who are interested to join have only until August 22 to enlist. Entry fee is pegged at P4,500 inclusive of a set of uniform for the players.

With The Freeman as media partner, the ANS 3x3 Basketball is also supported by Sirius Star Philippines, SMS-Boystown and its alumni association, Tampico by Ceed Marketing, Pizza Hut, Pocari Sweat, Pepsi, and Fitbar.
