Body-positive, inclusive fashion shows usher in summer

MANILA, Philippines — Spanish brands Women’secret and Springfield recently held back-to-back summer fashion shows in Manila headlined by multiracial and differently-bodied models.

In celebration of womanhood, Women’secret, which prides itself as being “crafted by women, for women,” sent even a plus-size model down the runway, wearing a swimsuit. 

For summer 2024, the brand launched its Hibiscus and Mediterranean collections, made of comfortable fabrics in playful colors and prints, making them ideal for battling the extreme heat in style.

Inspired by the enchanting hibiscus flower, the Hibiscus capsule collection aims to “bloom with elegance” by featuring captivating prints in creamy whites and bold blacks, alongside classic sailor motifs and soft pastel hues like sunshine yellow and dreamy nude.

The Mediterranean collection, meanwhile, boasts of a Bohemian and feminine spirit as seen in its key pieces, camisoles and dresses, in calm tones such as orange, trendy maloves or patch effect prints. Swimsuits and bikinis in this collection are full of details such as straps with knots and tortoise beads or pieces in matte gold, touches of shinny fabric, smock stitch and multi-strips, as well as strategic cutouts that flaunt one’s curves.

These collections are in addition to the brand’s comprehensive range of underwear, sleepwear, accessories, swimwear, and now including also footwear, tailored for the modern woman.
