Caraga wage hike hearings set

MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners and domestic workers in Caraga may expect an increase in their salary.

In a post on Facebook, the Caraga Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board said it would conduct five public hearings on proposed salary adjustments.

The wage board said a public hearing would be held on Nov. 20 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City for workers in Surigao del Norte, Siargao Islands and Dinagat Islands.

On Nov. 21, a public hearing would be conducted at Mabe’s Savory Place in Barangay 1, Poblacion, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

Another public hearing is set on Nov. 22 at the Andres Soriano Memorial Hospital Cooperative function hall in Bislig City in Surigao del Sur.

On Nov. 23, a public hearing will be held at Shacene Pension House & Restaurant in Barangay Mabua in Tandag, Surigao del Sur.

For workers in Butuan City and Agusan del Norte, the public hearing will be held at Almont Hotel & Inland Resort in Butuan City.

Interested workers are advised to coordinate with the Caraga wage board.

The last salary increase given to minimum wage earners in Caraga was in June last year. It raised their daily take-home pay to P350.

The monthly salary of domestic workers in the region was raised to P4,000.

The wage boards in Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas and Northern Mindanao have also set public hearings on petitions for salary adjustments.

Minimum wage earners in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley and Soccsksargen had been granted pay increases this year.
