CCSC to remain open during renovations | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City acting Mayor Raymond Garcia has approved the Board of the Cebu City Sports Center’s (CCSC) request to keep the facility’s track oval partially open during the upcoming renovations.

During a courtesy call to Garcia, CCSC manager and Board head Jovito Tabora discussed the upcoming repairs on the substandard lining of the track oval, which had caused quite a stir during the city’s recent hosting of the Palarong Pambansa.

Garcia previously stated that following the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo on August 25, he intends to close the entire oval to the public for repairs.

However, after meeting with the CCSC Board, Garcia agreed to conduct the repairs in phases, allowing the use of areas not yet under repair. This “phase-by-phase” approach was reported by the city’s PIO.

The CCSC officials felt it’s the most practical decision to make as the CCSC had been closed to the public for a long time after it was refurbished.

Meanwhile, two members of the CCSC Board, Atty. Pedro Leslie Salva and DepEd-Cebu City Schools Superintendent Nimfa Bongo, were formally sworn in by Garcia during the board’s courtesy call at City Hall. — (FREEMAN)
