Chiz: Time will heal wounds caused by Senate revamp

TIME heals all wounds.

This was the position taken by Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero with regards to suggestions that he offer powerful committees to members of the “Solid 7” bloc in the Senate to de-escalate the tension among senators following the May 20 leadership change.

In an interview with radio dyPM, Escudero said there is no need for him to “court” the members of the Solid 7 or offer them with anything as he believes that the passing of time can heal all wounds.

The Solid 7 is composed of senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, Loren Legarda, Joel Villanueva, Nancy Binay, Juan Edgardo Angara, Sherwin Gatchalian, and Joseph Victor Ejercito. The six senators resigned from their positions in the Senate after Zubiri quit his post as Senate president last week.

“Naniniwala akong panahon ang kailangan para doon, hindi pagte-trade ng anumang komite. Naniniwala akong kailangan lamang lumipas ang konting panahon para lumamig anumang init para mawala anumang tampo at bagay na bagay at tamang tama, angkop ang recess na meron kami ngayon na higit kumulang dalawang buwan (I believe that what we need is time and not committee chairmanships. I believe that with the passing of time, cooler heads will prevail, and that time will heal all displeasure. The time is right because we have around two months to heal all wounds as we are in a [sine die] recess [until July 21]),” he said.
