Cloudy skies with isolated rains in most parts of PH – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines: Isolated light rains, especially in the afternoon or at night, are expected within the next 24 hours due to the easterlies and northeast monsoon locally known as «amihan,» the state-run weather agency said on Monday.

However, the country will remain free from any weather disturbance as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has not monitored a low pressure area (LPA) inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days, weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

He said the easterlies — winds coming from the east, passing through the Pacific Ocean and bringing warm and humid weather to the country – are particularly affecting the provinces of Aurora and Quezon where scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail.

Amihan — cold winds from the northeast that carry rains, especially over the eastern side of the country – is bringing wet weather over Batanes and Cagayan, as well as Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley, Pagasa said.

Along with the localized thunderstorms, the easterlies are also affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated downpour and thunderstorms may be experienced, the state weather bureau added.
