Fair weather in Luzon; rain in Visayas, Mindanao – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines: While Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have generally-fair weather, areas in Visayas and Mindanao will experience scattered rain showers due to the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the shear line.
Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA (formerly Tropical Depression «Kabayan») was last spotted at 185 kilometers south of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Its trough, along with the shear line — where the hot and cold air converge — are affecting Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Western Visayas, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Bicol Region and Aurora where overcast skies may prevail.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon locally known as «amihan» is bringing cloudy skies with isolated rains in Luzon, particularly over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, the state-run weather agency said. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpour and thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms,it added.
