CLSU highlights eFARM Academy at edutourism confab

CENTRAL Luzon State University (CLSU) introduced its eFARM Academy program highlighting the growing significance of education tourism or edutourism at the Philippine Research Conference on Tourism and Hospitality (PRCTH) held in Los Baños, Laguna, on Sept. 12 and 13, 2024.

The program engaging Farm and Agriculture Resources Management was presented during the PCTRH plenary session at the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture Conference Hall as one of the most successful programs funded through the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) StudyPH Grants of the International Affairs Services.

Attending the PCTRH from CLSU were eFARM Academy's two project leaders, professors Celyrah Castillo for eFARM Kitchen and Maria Adrielle Estigoy for eFARM GROW, representing program leader Gella Patria Abella.

Castillo said they «banked on and capitalized… on agriculture and fisheries, which form the foundation of the eFARM Academy.»

Professor Eddie Nuque, CHEd StudyPH program plenary session presenter, said the CLSU eFARM Academy had «established the university as a prime tourism destination,» emphasizing «the high-quality services offered in education, research and extension through the generated technologies in agrifishery.»

In 2023, eFARM Academy won the Internationalization or IZN Award, besting three other finalists under the StudyPH Sustainable Tourism Category of the CHEd Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability or Icons Awards.

Maricel Padilla, University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism (UP AIT) faculty and moderator, encouraged the participants to submit proposals to CHEd.
