Cracking the code to success, Project Omelette in Barobo, Surigao del Sur commenced.

In an effort to boost the economic standing of farmer beneficiaries through a public-private partnership, DAR Caraga, particularly in Surigao del Sur, has officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Pilmico, the integrated agribusiness and food subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, for its grant venture dubbed 'Project Omelette' on March 19, 2024.

Pilmico, anchored on its mission on feeding humanity which are humans positioned at the forefront of the food value chain, pushes to drive for a better world by co-creating communities that are safe, empowered, and sustainable.

As such, with Project Omelette, which is focused on egg production, aims to provide an opportunity to not only develop sustainable livelihoods, but also provide livelihood kits and technical assistance to maximize the profitability of an organization.

And in this case, the San Roque Cooperative, an agrarian reform beneficiaries organization (ARBO) located in Barobo, Surigao del Sur, is one such lucky organization selected by Pilmico for Project Omelette.

This project shall then provide the San Roque farmers with four (4) sets of egg machines which will include galvanized cages and 192 heads of ready-to-lay hens, Pilmico feeds estimated at 1-2 months worth, Pilmico animal healthcare products, and egg weighing scales. The implementation cost is estimated at P 237-K which is set to start delivery come April 2024.

San Roque Cooperative Chairman Lorenzo Simbajon, Jr., is once again grateful for the "additional blessings" brought about by not only DAR this time, but now with Pilmico as well. He further stated, "the upcoming egg machines will definitely help to boost our income as an ARBO. And we will try our best to maintain and take care of the facilities that will be given."

Regional Director Atty. Merlita S. Capinpuyan, represented by OIC-Assistant Regional Director Joie L. Ceballos, imparted that, "this is part of our holistic approach in uplifting the quality of lives of the farmer beneficiaries as we are now in the later stages of the fulfillment of our mandate which expressly provides for support services to be given."
