CSU gets CHEd nod for internationalization

FOR its dedication to international standards, Cagayan State University (CSU) is the only university in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) and one of three state universities and colleges (SUCs) to receive an Asean University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Certification Award from the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) during the Internationalization Champions of National Building and Sustainability Awards 2023.

The award was presented by the CHEd International Affairs Service and was received on behalf of the CSU community by CSU-Carig Campus Executive Officer Arthur Ibañez during ceremonies on Oct. 6, 2023, at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.

CSU is the only university in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) and one of three among the 114 state universities and colleges in the Philippines that received the AUN-QA Certification Award.

A statement from the office of CSU President Urdujah Alvarado said the award is given in recognition of CSU's dedication to academic excellence by being an associate member of the AUN-QA and for having four programs assessed by the international accrediting agency: Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

CSU was one of three of 114 SUCs that received the award. It said that this award ensures the quality of higher education offerings in Cagayan Valley and advances the Asean region's higher education landscape.

CSU said this accolade was made possible through the impactful stewardship of its university president and other university officials who tirelessly worked for this much-coveted accreditation.

Alvarado said CSU became an AUN-QA associate member in 2019 through the effort of Fr. Ranhilio Aquino leading the core working team.

«I am determined to increase the number of internationally accredited programs in the university in my remaining months of incumbency at the university,» Alvarado said.

CSU received the Outstanding Internationalization Initiatives in the Regions Award with 18 other Philippine universities: Ateneo de Manila, Central Luzon State University, Centro Scholar
