Davao City, Metro Cebu WDs retain top spots as richest water districts

THE Davao City Water District (DCWD) remains unshaken as the country’s richest with total assets of P11.61 billion as of yearend 2022, up P622 million from the P10.988 billion it declared in 2020.

Firmly holding second place is Metro Cebu WD, which reported P5.245 billion in total assets for 2022, showing a modest gain of P5 million from P5.195 billion in 2020.

In the third spot is Leyte Metropolitan WD with P2.653 billion in assets, overtaking Cagayan de Oro WD, which fell one rung with P2.539 billion.

Cagayan de Oro WD’s assets dipped by P161 million from the P2.7 billion it declared two years ago. Its reported expenses of P1.156 billion also outpaced its income of P1.124 billion to end 2022 with P138.47 million comprehensive losses.

Baguio City WD retained fifth place with assets amounting to P2.278 billion, up P412 million from P1.866 billion in 2020.

Puerto Princesa WD in Palawan climbed one spot to sixth with P2.252 billion in assets, up P429 million from P1.823 billion two years ago.

Also gaining was Zamboanga City WD, which took the seventh spot with declared assets of P2.104 billion against P1.814 billion in 2020 – a P290 million increase in two years.

Dropping two places to eighth was San Jose del Monte WD in Bulacan which reported P1.755 billion in assets, down P98 million from the P1.853 billion it declared in 2020.

Metro Iloilo WD held steady at No. 9 with P1.573 billion in assets, up P25 million from P1.548 billion in 2020.

Metro Lipa WD in Batangas stayed in the tenth spot with assets totaling P1.523 billion or an increase of P37 million compared to P1.486 billion two years earlier.
