Deactivated voters up to 5.1M
MORE than 5.1 million registered voters have been deactivated ahead of the May 2025 national and local polls, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Data provided by the Comelec showed that there are 5,105,191 deactivated voter registration records.
Comelec chairman George Garcia said the deactivated voters include those who failed to vote in two successive preceding regular elections, those who failed to validate their records, and those ordered by the courts to be excluded.
Other reasons for deactivation include loss of Filipino citizenship, sentenced by final judgment to suffer imprisonment for not less than one year, and sentenced by final judgment of having committed a crime involving disloyalty to the duly constituted government.
In addition, Garcia said there are 248,972 voter registration records that have been deleted because of death or multiple or double registration.
