Cambodian, Chinese involved in Bamban POGO arrested
GOVERNMENT agents have arrested a Cambodian man and a Chinese woman while still searching for another Chinese woman reportedly involved in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac.
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the arrested foreigners as Khuon Moeum, 37, a Cambodian, and Wang Keping, 35, a Chinese, who were arrested in an operation in Barangay Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet last Saturday morning.
Tansingco said the arrests were made by the Bureau of Immigration and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission after they received reports that a Chinese woman allegedly involved in the Bamban POGO facility was staying in a house in Barangay Poblacion in Tuba town
The Chinese woman, however, was not in the house. Instead, agents found Khuon and Wang in the house and discovered that the Cambodian was an illegal and overstaying alien whose passport expired in August 2020.
BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said Wang had a working visa but “she may be charged with violation of immigration laws for harboring an illegal alien.”
