Deportation vs Pinay-Swiss activist iligal, 'political persecution' — rights group | Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — Kinundena ng ilang grupo ang diumano'y iligal na pagdakip at deportation kay Anakbayan Switzerland chairperson Edna Becher dahil diumano sa "paglahok sa gawaing kontra-gobyerno."

Ayon sa grupong Karapatan, Huwebes nang gabi nang dumating si Becher sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport  Terminal (NAIA) 3 para ipagdiwang ang holidays kasama ang pamilya't mga kaibigan.

Lingid daw sa kanyang kaalaman, political persecution ang kanyang dinatnan.

"She was detained by immigration authorities for two hours, as they alleged that she is on a blacklist due to involvement in anti-government activities," wika ng Karapatan, Biyernes. 

"As of this writing, immigration authorities have deported Becher, and is on a flight back to Switzerland."

Hinihingian pa ng Philstar.com ng pahayag si Bureau of Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval ngunit hindi pa rin tumutugon hanggang sa ngayon matapos tanungin kung anong nalabag ni Becher, lalo na't ligal na grupo naman ang Anakbayan.

Kamakailan lang nang lumahok si Becher sa mga kilos protesta sa Switzerland kaugnay ng Universal Periodic Review at noong pagbisita ni Pangulong Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. sa World Economic Forum.

"Becher, an activist from Anakbayan-Europe and also of Swiss nationality, has done nothing wrong and illegal against anyone, whether in her country of residence and much more in the country of her family roots," patuloy ng Karapatan.

"These acts also violate Becher’s freedom of association and freedom of movement."

"It is appalling that this happened days before International Human Rights Day, when the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights will be commemorated."
