DICT looking into alleged hacking of PCSO's FB page

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 5) — Authorities are investigating the alleged hacking of the Facebook page of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Alexander Ramos, executive director of the Department of Information and Communications Technology — Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (DICT-CICC) confirmed on Tuesday the posting of several nude photos in PCSO's Facebook page.

“Mayroon sa Facebook lumalabas mga nudities, so it's probably a form of attack na we don't know if we can address it, but we sent people already to ensure that properly 'yung investigation and recovery,” Ramos said.

[Translation: There are nudities that have been posted on (PCSO’s) Facebook. So it’s probably a form of attack that we know if we can address it yet, but we sent people already to ensure the investigation would be properly conducted.]

In a public announcement posted on its website on Tuesday, the PCSO it said it has temporarily deactivated its Facebook page whil probing the inappropriate activities.

«This is to inform the public that the official Facebook page of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has been voluntarily and temporarily deactivated. PCSO has discovered inappropriate activities that require scrutiny and further investigation,” the advisory read.

“The PCSO will continue to provide correct and accurate information about our games and charitable activities in our PCSO Games Online Hub Facebook page,” it added.

In a separate statement, DICT Assistant Secretary Aboy Paraiso earlier said they are continuously coordinating with the PCSO regarding the matter.
