Dindo Amparo named PBS-BBS chief

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has appointed a veteran broadcast journalist as chief of the Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS), the agency that manages state-run radio stations.

Former ABS-CBN news executive Fernando “Dindo” Amparo Sanga has been named PBS-BBS director general, according to the Presidential Communications Office.

PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez administered Sanga’s oath on Wednesday.

Sanga replaced Rizal GIovanni Aportadera, who was present during the turnover of leadership.

Sanga’s appointment marks his return to PBS-BBS, having worked for the agency as a reporter and announcer from 1989 to 1994.

He is a former reporter of Radyo ng Bayan in Lucena City and the defunct radio station dzMM.

Sanga also held key posts in ABS-CBN such as Middle East bureau chief and head of integrated news gathering.

PBS-BBS, which is under the PCO, uses broadcast media to provide information about the activities, policies and directions of the government. It operates 33 radio stations nationwide.
