EDSA anniversary not among Palace list of 2024 non-working days, special holidays
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 13) — Malacañang has released the list of regular holidays and special non-working days for 2024.
Under Proclamation No. 368 signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary was missing from the list.
While the peaceful revolution is not recognized as a regular holiday, it is almost always declared a special non-working day by every chief executive since the 1986 historic event that toppled a dictator.
The new proclamation, however, added the Chinese New Year on Feb. 10 and the Christmas Eve on Dec. 24 as special non-working days.
Meanwhile, Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha have been declared national holidays under the same proclamation.
«The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha shall hereafter be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient,» it stated.
Malacañang said the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos is advised to recommend the actual dates on which Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha holidays will respectively fall.
Here are the regular holidays under Proclamation No. 368:
