Envoy: Partnerships help strengthen Philippine-Thai ties | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — SB Finance (SBF), a partnership between Security Bank Corporation (SBC) and Thailand’s Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), recently met with Thailand Ambassador to the Philippines Tull Traisorat to help strengthen Philippine-Thai relations as the two countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties.

SBF, led by President and CEO Abbie Dans-Casanova, visited the Thai embassy to meet with Ambassador Tull Traisorat, together with SB Finance Chief Business Officer Gerard Betita, Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) Vice President for AEC Business Development RommakietKawratanamporn, Royal Thai Embassy in Manila Minister Rangsant Srimangkorn, and Counselor for Economics Yupawan Premchit Taniguchi.

During the meeting, the Ambassador cited that partnerships between Thai and Philippine investors like SBF can help certain sectors of business and society, so the embassy would help SBF establish opportunities with Thai companies in the Philippines.

The Ambassador encouraged SBF to strengthen and expand its business and social network through the activities initiated by the embassy in celebration of 75 years of PH–Thai relations. SBF was grateful for the help, and promised to support, and join the embassy’s corporate social responsibility activities in return.

The company’s visit to the Ambassador came shortly after attending another meeting early July 2024 at the Thai embassy with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Maris Sangiampongsa, who recently paid an official visit to the Philippines at the invitation of Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) chief Enrique A. Manalo.

During his official visit, the Thai Foreign Affairs Minister met with Philippine government officials to discuss and reaffirm bilateral areas of cooperation, and also met with members of the Thai private sector in the Philippines.

The Thai Foreign Affairs Minister had a discussion with SB Finance, represented by Kungrsri Vice President, AEC Business Development Rommakiet Kawratanamporn, along with other members of the Thai private sector in the Philippines, about investment opportunities and challenges in the country, as well as potential support from the Thai government.
