Experts inspect possible site of Dinagat airport
The construction of Dinagat Islands' first airport gained ground as experts from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines started to inspect potential sites in the province last November, the province's Rep. Alan Uno Ecleo said.
The experts made the ocular inspection last November 28 and 29 as part of a technical study in conjunction with House Bill 3799, which establishes an airport in the district.
Ecleo said that an airport would boost tourism and foster greater development in the province. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier said that the island province needs an airport as it is «quite isolated.»
«Through this airport, more tourists would discover the untapped potential of pristine natural landscapes comparable to destinations like Siargao, Palawan, and Boracay,» Ecleo said.
A study from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, another requirement under the bill, is underway, the lawmaker said.
