February 9 declared as special non-working holiday for Chinese New Year

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday declared Feb. 9, 2024 as a special non-working holiday to mark the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Through Proclamation No. 453, Marcos added February 9 as a special non-working day so that the public can “avail the benefits of a longer weekend.”

The Chinese New Year celebration is on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, which Malacañang also declared as a special non-working holiday through Proclamation No. 368 issued in October 2023.

Marcos also ordered the Department of Labor and Employment to issue the appropriate circular to implement the proclamation for the private sector.
