Fugitive wanted for statutory rape falls

MANILA, Philippines — The second most wanted fugitive in Quezon City was arrested on Tuesday.

Rey John Abello, 24, was collared by operatives of the Quezon City Police District in Barangay Damayang Lagi at around 3 p.m., QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said in a statement.

Abello was apprehended based on a warrant of arrest issued by a Quezon City court for statutory rape.

No other details about Abello’s case were available.

The suspect was brought to the QCPD’s criminal investigation and detection unit for documentation.

“This clearly shows that the gallant men and women of this district are dedicated in their mandate to track down wanted persons and put them behind bars,” Maranan said.
