Guiao blasts Rondae Hollis-Jefferson after confrontation during TNT-RoS game

MANILA, Philippines -- Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao slammed as "disrespectful" the move of former TNT Tropang Giga import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson to approach the Elasto Painters bench during Friday's PBA Commissioner's Cup clash.

In the final minute of the game and with the Elasto Painters leading by six, 112-106, Rain or Shine import Demetrius Treadwell was about to finish a transition layup.

Rondae's brother, TNT import Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, chased the shot down and blocked the layup. However, he was called for a foul.

The Tropang Giga then complained to the officials regarding the crucial call.

The TNT import was called for a technical foul as he got to the face of the referee.

Things became more heated when Rondae left his patron seat and was seen approaching the bench of Rain or Shine.

He was suddenly at the back of the bench of the Elasto Painters, and he had to be brought back to his seat. Rondae exchanged words with some of the team officials, including Guiao.

"I don't know. We were surprised he was behind our bench. That's disrespectful, totally disrespectful. Nobody does that, to go to the bench of the other team and I don't know what he was doing there," the coach told reporters after the game.

"But I don't know if I've seen that in my 33 years of coaching in the PBA, somebody, in the heat of the game, somebody just goes behind their bench. That's our area," he added.

The fiery Guiao also called the incident as a "dangerous thing to pull."

"We had staff behind our bench. Those are our staff there. So, that is a dangerous thing to pull, and I don't know what happened with him," the coach said.

"Tinopak iyong gago."

The game was crucial, as the two teams had identical 4-5 win-loss records before the match.

Rain or Shine bagged the win, 119-112, and secured a quarterfinal berth with their fifth straight victory.

The Elasto Painters had to weather Hollis-Jefferson's 50 points and Calvin Oftana's 37 points to grab the win.

"It was a beautiful game, it was a nice game... Maybe [Rondae] just got emotional or frustrated. But, don't take it out that way," Guiao said.

Rondae, meanwhile, said that he was just talking to the referee and did not mean to
