House warns plate ‘8’ users

MANILA, Philippines — House Secretary General Reginald Velasco yesterday warned lawmakers that they will face disciplinary action should they use vehicle protocol plate number “8.”

Velasco said Speaker Martin Romualdez has not issued protocol plates for the 19th Congress and all existing number 8 plates are either expired, unauthorized or fake.

“They know what will happen to them. There is the ethics House committee, there will be hearings and disciplinary actions will be imposed on them,” Velasco said in a radio interview.

“If we issue these plates, the Speaker wants to remove all the unauthorized plates first. Even those who are not congressmen are using car plates 8,” he added.
