ICTSI upgrades Iloilo port for more shipping lines

VISAYAS Container Terminal (VCT), a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) in Central Philippines, is transforming the Iloilo Commercial Port Complex (ICPC) into a more competitive and efficient trade gateway, attracting a wider range of shipping lines.

Timothee Jeannin, VCT's executive director, emphasized the terminal's role in transforming ICPC into a competitive trade gateway for Western Visayas, stating, «Our operations are off to a good start thanks to the great team that we have here at VCT.» He also highlighted the team's tireless efforts in renovating facilities and implementing systems to meet desired standards, ensuring a smooth operational transition.

Since April 1, VCT has boosted ICPC's infrastructure and productivity, servicing 40 vessels, including container ships, RoRo, and bulk carriers, reflecting ICTSI's global port standards.

Jeannin also outlined VCT's commitment to further improvements: «Customers can expect more improvements as we continue to deploy more equipment and complete the rest of the terminal upgrades in less than two months.» With plans to expand its fleet and deploy additional equipment, including mobile harbor cranes, VCT aims to enhance vessel operations and overall efficiency at ICPC.

He emphasized the terminal's dedication to local hiring and community engagement, stating, «We are proud to spearhead the transformation of the Iloilo Commercial Port Complex into a world-class maritime facility.» Jeannin highlighted VCT's aim to support economic activity and community development in Iloilo and the surrounding areas through prioritized local hiring and engagement initiatives.

With a 25-year concession from the Philippine Ports Authority, ICTSI aims to modernize ICPC into a world-class trade gateway. Through its endeavors, VCT elevates maritime facilities and contributes to economic growth and community empowerment in the Visayas region.
