Immigration firm shut down for illegal recruitment
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday shut down an immigration consultancy firm for illegal recruitment.
With the help of the Pasay police, the DMW’s Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB) padlocked the office of 11 Sea’s Immigration Services at the Welcome Plaza Mall on Taft Avenue.
The 11 Sea’s Immigration Services is neither licensed by the DMW to recruit and place Filipino workers overseas nor does it have any approved job orders, DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said.
He urged jobseekers to check the DMW website for a list of licensed agencies and approved job orders.
According to the MWPB, the firm promises jobs as trailer truck driver and warehouse worker in Poland for an “all-in” payment of P280,000 to process the workers’ employment documents.
The firm also allegedly offered jobs in Canada for a processing fee of nearly P500,000.
