Isolated rain showers expected in PH, including Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday that it would still be generally fair weather in most parts of the country, including Metro Manila except for isolated downpours due to the northeast monsoon or «amihan» and easterlies.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said that they have not monitored any tropical cyclones inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days.

«In fact, there would be a big possibility that the last few days of December and the year 2023 will end without any storm entering the country,» according to the Pagasa forecaster.

The easterlies – winds coming from the east, passing through the Pacific Ocean and bringing warm and humid weather – are particularly affecting Caraga, Davao Region, Eastern Samar, Leyte and Southern Leyte where overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail.

The same weather system, along with localized thunderstorms, are bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms over Palawan, the rest of Visayas and the rest of Mindanao, Pagasa said.

Amihan is affecting Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may be experienced within the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said.
