ITCZ brings rain in Mindanao; easterlies affect Luzon, Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rain in Mindanao while Luzon and Visayas will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina said that the ITCZ — the imaginary line where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet – is particularly affecting Caraga and Davao Region where overcast skies and scattered downpours are likely.
Badrina said the weather system is usually associated with cloudy skies and scattered rain showers that could lead to flooding and landslides.
Meanwhile, the easterlies are specifically affecting Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora and Quezon where overcast skies with scattered downpours would prevail in the next 24 hours.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
