Javillonar returns, Knights tame Chiefs

MANILA, Philippines — Letran whipped up a devastating fourth-quarter storm as it turned back Arellano University, 86-79, yesterday and claimed its second win a row in NCAA Season 100 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

Paolo Javillonar, back after serving his two-game suspension for playing in unsanctioned leagues, poured in his best game after a long while, exploding with a game-high 28 points in leading the Knights to their second win in three outings.

“Tiwala lang,” said Letran coach Allen Ricardo. “Every minute lagi ko sinasabi, kahit ano mangyari, wala bibigay regardless kahit ano lead pa ‘yan, tyagain natin, one point at a time.”

Jimboy Estrada and James Miller also helped in the cause as they scattered 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Later in the day, Emilio Aguinaldo College ended 15 years of losing spell versus San Beda with a 68-55 upset.

Coming into the game, the Generals were 0-27 against the Red Lions since entering the country’s grand old league in 2009.
