Karni outfit chief shot dead: Two theories on why shooters killed ‘accomplice’

JAIPUR: The shocking murder of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, has plunged investigators into a perplexing problem because the assailants not only targeted Gogamedi but also shot dead their own accomplice, Naveen Shekhawat, at the crime scene, giving rise to divergent theories surrounding the motive behind the double murder.

According to police, three individuals, including two shooters and Shekhawat, travelled together to meet Gogamedi at his residence. In a chilling sequence of events, the unidentified gunmen eliminated Gogamedi before deliberately turning their weapons on Shekhawat.

Two compelling theories have emerged from the investigation.

The first suggests that the assailants, possibly hired hitmen, received instructions to erase any potential witnesses by killing Shekhawat, who may have possessed information critical to the gang.
The second theory suggests that Gogamedi and Shekhawat found themselves unwittingly caught in the crossfire as the shooters targeted Gogamedi. However, CCTV footage contradicts this theory, indicating a deliberate targeting of Shekhawat. The police said that Shekhawat was shot from both the sides, including Gogamedi’s security guards when he was rushing out of the house.

SUV used by accused seized :
The three accused had hired an SUV, which has been seized by the police for further investigation. Sources said that liquor bottles were found among different materials inside the car during examination.
