Lancers, Baby Jaguars shoot for finals berths | The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The top seeded Lancers will lock horns with the fourth-ranked University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors in the main game at 6:45 p.m., while the Baby Jaguars, the No.1 qualifier in the juniors division, will tackle the fourth seed UV Baby Lancers in the 5:15 p.m. opener.

Both the Lancers and the Baby Jaguars need to dispatch their rivals only once to barge into the finals.

They earned a twice-to-beat advantage for topping the elimination wherein the Lancers completed an astounding 10-0 sweep, while the Baby Jaguars sealed their first ever top seed finish in the league’s 23-year-history with a 9-1 win-loss record.

The USC Warriors, on the other hand, reached the Final Four with a 6-4 slate after USJ-R dropped to sixth when the Jaguars’ three won games were forfeited because of the disqualification of Evan Jose “EJ”  Agbong on eligibility issues.

The Baby Lancers, meanwhile, were tied with the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters with identical 7-3 cards  but UV  claimed the fourth and last semis spot by virtue of the winner-over-the-other rule. — (FREEMAN)
